Art Installation at ArtPark Greece

Slept for two days after arriving back in NY- happy to be home, I have a lot of work to do!
Im finally downloading all the photos and videos and have started posting them here and on my website.

Make sure to click on the 'September' link above and scroll through the myriad of images posted the past few weeks. Keep in mind that I ended my trip with a few days in Athens, Delphi then Paris but the previous images are the whole reason, cause and celebration for the trip: "Vessels for Greek Light", made from locally harvested bamboo (did you catch the video clips of me cutting and cleaning? -Kind of humorous now that I look at them! ) with solar panels powering LED lights to create an interior glow after dusk...powered by 'Greek light'...an Environmental art installation in Rhodes Greece at ArtPark Greece!!

... but really its only the English speaking fat tire bike tour around Paris- excellent way to see the city and things I wouldnt have the time or effort to see plus other good sites and a stop at the Jarden de toulerie to the the odd sculptures and have refreshments

I have arrived. I am staying at a sweet house with friend's of lindas
who have so graciuosly offered to have me stay for a few days! How
lucky I am to stay here just outside of Paris in Rosny sous Bois. The
wonderful hosts already fed me a true Parisian meal, gave me pointers
for the city and I'm off and running to be mused in Paris....

so the two projects finally came together and I had just enough time to get them up and lit.... I fly out tomorrow to Athens for 3 days now and then on to Paris for a few days more

the afandu beach installation will have to wait till next time.... maybe after the elections here- lol!

Worked hard this morning to get the Greek column finished and handles on the 'vessel' plus some details with pine cones....a picture or two on Twitter- seems to be the best and easiest way to actually post pictures from the phone. This afternoon we visit lindos.

Well things are progressing. Have a very large 'vessel for Greek light' installed at th art park. One more large scale piece going up tomorrow. Then I have a few 'tree dresses' around the park... I'll upload pics ad I can. I've been using different programs to accomplish this task and they do not always work ad planned! Tried it via email, then shozu, facebook, then Twitter which seems to work mist consistanty. I've even created a flicker account but need to resize images before uploading LOL!!!!! Ah life in fast forward...

So now its the end of day and we have successfully secured the art!... So, what happens in all municipalities- a communication "delay" occurred ...so the sections of sculpture that were thought to be machinations of greek gypsies is now safe at a nearby location waiting for the powers that be to communicate more thoroughly...LOL!! The mayor wants to have a dinner meeting with us on saturday! we shall see....Sometimes its all about jumping through hoops....In the meantime I worked on a few pieces back at the sculpture park. They are progressing nicely and need to be completed in the next few days for the newspaper photographer who is coming soon....and you thought i was on a greek holiday!!.....

Ok third try for this update. I finally figured out how to get pics uploaded from phone. That's the good news. The hurdle today is that when I got to the outdoor site they were taking down. Some mix up they thought gypsies were making stuff. Lol well more update later. To be continued....

Work is progressing onsite. The frames are made and one section
completed with bamboo. I'm hoping to finish the bamboo today which
would leave tomorrow for the solar install and concrete base. Hoping
the weather cooperates- it's been looking a little bleek on the
horizon .....

1015 am monday and im sitting in a cafe on the seaside in afandou where the public installation will be. Im finallyhaving a well deserved cup of coffee since getting up at 7 and cutting, cleaning bamboo! Im on my own untl about 1pm when i expect damon should show up and we are supposed to meet up with the mayor. Ive taken pictures and video clips and hope to find a high speed connect so i can upload.This project was a surprise but im excited about it and going with it...had some greek beer last night, mythos-pretty good! otherwise ive been in bed early reading! LOL Great s;eeping weather, cool at night and breezy then hot and sunny all day......went for a beautiful swim in the aegean today on a break from working on the project at the seaside...."Greek Light Vessel" bamboo and solar light of course....work in the park is also started but will have to wait a few days.

The Old Town is incredible! I walked through the pebbled and centuries worn streets of this oldest village in europe-so im told..... Ill download some pictures when I actually figure out how to make that work...obviously some tech issues with that right now....The wine is sweet but kala (good)...ok so im trying to learn a few new works....so many people from all over the world and everyone seems to speak english even the greeks but i dont want that to make me lazy so ill pickup what words i can

My hosts in Greece are wonderful, my room excuisite, the food
delicious.....We've scouted out the bamboo and prepare to harvest
first thing tomorrow. There's a big day ahead with a group of tourists
coming to the park.... Maybe I can entice them to join in the
weaving! ...Going to the Old Town tonight to check out the castled
city built for the crusades.

Landing in Paris was colorful blue yellow pink and green glowing
lights. The cdgval was my only fun..the ride was full speed between
terminal 2 and park px...I rode it a couple of times ! Well, I did
have plenty of time to kill before my next flight....about 4 hrs then
Athens then 3 hrs then Rhodes!

So its Friday- 4 days before I leave on my journey to Greece. Ive set up this blog to keep in touch, and document my trip and the process of creating an awesome environmental art installation there ....and maybe post some extra tidbits while i'm traveling!....More soon -I need to finish packing!
